I'm Graduating (Eek!) + UPDATES

Image
Hello, lovelies!

Today is a very strange day.

I'm walking across the stage today and getting my diploma along with the rest of my graduating class, staring out at a crowd of family and friends who have done so much to support me over the past four years. All at once memories are going to hit me as I realize that I'm never going to set foot in those high school hallways again as a student, though maybe someday I'll come back just to visit.

It's going to be so bittersweet to remember that I may never see some of these people again, or at least not in the same way that I had once seen them. We'll grow up, we'll move on, but I think some part of my heart will always remain with them. And while it's going to suck not to be able to see some of my close friends as much as I'm used to, I know we've outgrown our school and we're destined for bigger and better things. (Too cheesy? Maybe.)

And so, that means this week and beyond is going to be extremely h…

April Favorites (2017)

Image
Hello, lovelies!

April was an extremely crazy month, and the beginning of May was super hectic as well, but I still wanted to get this post up for you guys because there was definitely some things I loved during the month that I wanted to share.

So without further ado, here are my April favorites.

* * *
Music:
(Hang on to your hats, folks. I have a looooooong list of music I've been loving.)
"No Promises" by Cheat Codes ft. Demi Lovato

This song is definitely one that you can blast while in the car with the windows down, and I love how these two artists's voices blend together in it.
"It Ain't Me" by Kygo ft. Selena Gomez

Fun fact, I watched the music video for this song, and I did not like it. I felt like it didn't fit the mood of the song at all, but the song itself is actually really good.
"Waves" (acoustic version) by Dean Lewis

This song hit me straight in the feels when I heard it, and I loved the bittersweet sound it had to it. Also th…

Prom 2017: Hair, Makeup, A Lovely Date & More

Image
Hello, lovelies!

First of all, I apologize profusely for the complete lack of posts these past few weeks. I've been swamped with end of the year schoolwork and AP exam studies, and that's taken up all of my free time. But hopefully in the next little bit I'll have my blogging schedule back in order. (:

My prom was actually on April 21 this year, so this is definitely going up later than I had hoped it would (which is also why this post is going up on a Sunday rather than a Tuesday or Friday, because I just wanted to get it out as soon as possible). I know the first thing you probably want to know is if I had a date this year, and the answer is yes. My boyfriend (surprise! I have one of those) and I took on prom together this year, which was a lot of fun, and I'm so glad I had such a sweet guy to spend the evening with. (Note: for privacy reasons, I'm keeping his face blocked out in all of the photos. Sorry!)

So to start, here's a little look at my accessories.…

(#2) Excerpts From A Book I'll Never Write

Image
Hello, lovelies!

I recently did a post like this maybe about a month ago (click HERE to read it), and the response I got to that post through comments and emails was overwhelmingly sweet. And since I've just been so inspired this past month to write these little excerpts, I figured I'd compile them in this post.

If you're unfamiliar with this idea, it's basically a collection of thoughts and truths that I've collected over my life, and each one corresponds to a much longer chain of events that could fill a book. But the catch is that I'm not sharing the whole book: it's more like I'm giving you the punchline alone.

So without further ado, here are more excerpts from a book I will never write.

I Wish: A Poem

Image
Hello, lovelies!

April is halfway over, and I just realized that this month is actually National Poetry Month. Being the poetry fanatic that I am, this made me so ridiculously excited, especially because it means I have even more reason just to write poetry and be inspired.

So this is my latest composition. Feel free as always to leave your thoughts in a comment or through any of my social media links. (:

"I Wish"
I wish you could see the way your eyes light up, When you smile that big smile of yours, The way they crinkle in the corners And happiness seems to shine around you.
I wish you could hear the passion in your voice When you talk about something you like. The way it rises and falls so freely In a mesmerizing cadence of sound.
I wish you could feel how gentle your hands become When you tuck them securely around mine. The way they dance across my skin so naturally Like the sun's teasing lilt across the sky.
I wish you could listen to the way you laugh When so…

An Open Letter To My Body

Image
Hello, lovelies!
I know this post is up a little later than normal, but I saw this style of post over on a different blog (which I can't remember now, sorry!), and I liked the idea so much that I wanted to do my own version of it.
So here it is: an open letter to my body. No filters, no lies, no facades.
* * *

Dear body,
I want to first say that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for every time I saw your reflection in the mirror and hated what I saw, and I'm sorry for letting insecurity ever take away from the beauty that you have.
To my legs, thank you for giving me the ability to run and walk and skip when the sun is shining. A silly boy once made a comment about how your thighs would jiggle if you poked them, and I'm sorry it took me so long to finally realize that that's okay. I never got to a point where I chased the coveted thigh gap that the media praised, but I definitely didn't learn to love you as soon as I should have. To my calves, you were always the part …

5 Little Ways To Be Happy

Image
Hello, lovelies!

I've been having a really great week so far (and at the time of writing this post it's only Monday, so that's saying a lot), and I've just been so much happier overall this year. I know a lot of you also struggle with things like anxiety and stress like I do, so I thought I'd share just a few little things that can help make your day brighter.

(If you want to see a similar post to this that I wrote last year with more happy things, click HERE.)

1.) Take a hike

Over the past few months, I've been training for a two week-long trip to Israel at the end of May. It's going to be brutally hot there and we'll have to cover around twelve miles a day, so I've been going on long hikes to make sure my legs can handle it.
There's something just so freeing about breathing in really crisp air and pushing yourself to the limit to climb to the highest hills and do it faster than before. I often find myself looking at my feet when the path…

March Favorites (2017)

Image
Hello, lovelies!

March was an extremely busy time for me, so other than the music category, my favorites aren't going to be quite as extensive as they've been before. But either way, I figured this was a good way to kick off April. (: So here we go!

Music:

Ed Sheeran's Divide album launched during this month, and I've been OBSESSED ever since it came out. Some of my top picks are Dive, Perfect, Galway Girl, Happier, Heart's Don't Break Around Here, Supermarket Flowers, Nancy Mulligan, New Man, and Save Myself. (I just realized that that list is actually pretty long. Oops.)

Come Hang Out by AJR
I found this band by chance through Pandora, and I love how their music sounds. I think it's also cool that it's just three guys who make up the band and their songs are very upbeat and have a techno edge to them.

Hypnotized by Fever Fever
Acoustic guitars are my weakness. That's all I'll say.

I Don't Know, I Don't Know by Tall Heights
Tall Heigh…
